The province of Perugia is also home to Assisi, the birthplace of St. Francis, which is an important pilgrimage destination for Christian believers.

The province of Perugia is also known for its culinary specialties as well as its breathtaking landscapes, ranging from rolling hills and green valleys to the majestic peaks of Monte Subasio.

There are five nature parks in the province that are perfect for hiking. Lake Trasimeno, where the Romans were defeated by Hannibal in 217 BC, is worth a visit, too.
